Karnes County, Texas: title research
Two online systems: one for 1854 to 2003, another for June 2003 to present.
Recording office and records
- Recording office
- The Karnes County Clerk, who is the recorder and custodian of the county's Official Public Records.
- Two systems
- The clerk's page points to Karnes QuickLink for index books and land records from 1854 to 2003, and to County Government Records for land records from June 2003 to the present.
- Older records
- On County Government Records, documents before 2003 are not indexed. You need the volume and page number to view or print them. On QuickLink you can search the index books by date range, party type and name, or go straight to a volume and page.
- Registration and copies
- Both sites ask you to register an account. The clerk's page lists a per-page charge to view or print images.
- Searches by the clerk
- The clerk's office says it does not handle record search requests by phone and does not perform title or lien searches. Copy requests need the volume, page or document number.
Good to know
- Because the two systems split at 2003, a long chain usually means working in both.
Title research in Karnes County
Send the legal description and how far back you need and we will scope a runsheet, abstract or set of images for Karnes County. A chain that crosses 2003 means working in both systems. On a larger Karnes County project we can split the older and newer records between landmen and bring them together in one runsheet. See oil and gas title work, title research, title curative services and the samples.
